Cold rolling

Steel profile cold rolling

Targeted manufacturing for highly precise profiles

Cold rolling involves plastically forming the metal at room temperature, unlike hot rolling which is performed at high temperatures. The passage of the metal through the rolling mills forms the material and allows profiles with very precise sizes and superior surface finishing to be achieved. During the process, the steel is at the same time subject to work hardening which increases its mechanical resistance and hardness.

The cold rolling mill is made up of three rolling stands arranged in a sequence. Each rolling stand has two pairs of rollers (vertical-horizontal), one of which is motorized.

The rolling mill is also provided with an in-line measuring tool that checks the profiles sizes, and with a roller straightening system. A winding reel is placed at the end of the line. The rolling speed of the mill is between 10 and 30 m/min, depending on material size and type.
